Blizzard closed the World of Warcraft retro server in 5 hours after its launch

For twelve years since the release of World of Warcraft, the game has many times been radically transformed. Not all users have changed the taste to taste, and therefore among fans there is a widespread practice of launching so-called retro-servers, allowing to play in early versions of WoW. One of these days one of these servers was launched, but, unfortunately the fans, he was destined to work only a few hours.
A retro server called Felmyst was created to allow 5,000 players to return to the atmosphere of World of Warcraft, reigning in 2007, when the release of the addition of The Burning Crusade took place. But five hours after the launch, the creator received a letter from Blizzard, in which the company's lawyers urged him to close the retro server. The WoW fan had no choice but to obey - four years of work on Felmyst were wasted.
For many, the closure of the retro server was not a surprise. This is not the first time that Blizzard destroys the similar endeavor of its fans. So, last year the company was covered by the Nostralius server, which allows playing the very first version of World of Warcraft. As a reason for closing Blizzard usually indicates possible problems with piracy.
